Application
(AC-CHW3) is a surfactant solution is mainly used ahead of cement slurries to separate them from oil-based drilling mud; however, it can also be used with water-based drilling mud. In addition, (AC-CHW3) helps wash residual mud from the formation and pipe and renders the surfaces water wet. (AC-CHW3) will aid in thinning the mud which will reduce the chances of channeling by following fluids.
It helps to achieve good mud removal and bonding of the cement to the pipe and formation. Due to the low viscosity of this Chemical Wash, turbulent flow can be achieved at low pump rates giving increased channels of mud removal and bonding.
As with any chemical wash, it must be pumped in turbulent flow to maximize its mud removal potential. Generally, a volume of Chemical Wash that will provide a 500ft column of wash in the annulus ahead of the cement slurry is recommended.
